sardine terrorist [12 Apr 2009|12:15am]

This is a kitten with a peg leg, for a friend. I suggest:

1. everyone draw a kitten with a peg leg, and
2. show me.
3. peg-legged kitten army.

Don't wanna hear about kings and queens [09 Apr 2009|12:58am]
It's been a busy couple of weeks. Last week, Eleni let me tag along for a dinner at her parent's house. Her mom is a master chef. We had spaghetti. Then, Emerald City ComicCon was this past weekend. People came to our home. People like: J-Fish, Ben, Erik, Becky and Vasilis. It was a damn good time. The beginning of the week was really sunny. I spent it in the park with Stacy and Chad. That was equally damn good. The next day I went to the park for a few minutes and watched Corey and Larry capoeira fight:

Windows Movie Maker is fun and ridiculous.

I don't think all my synapses are firing this week, but it's okay. Good damn. Yerba Mate.

Now I'm eating a delicious soup made by Lindsay Lam.

A lot of stuff I sketched recently:

Yes. Goku eats dogs. [01 Apr 2009|05:13am]
Let me tell you little about myself: I spill things. Oh hey, is that a cup of coffee? Spill. Oh, what a nice refreshing drink of water? Spill. All over shirt and pants.

Also, the last part of the Tikboom Global Warming Saga is up at Top Shelf

But that's Bummer Dan... [23 Mar 2009|09:19pm]
I finally started watching the second season of Deadwood. It pretty much started exactly the way I wanted it to. Luckily, this happened before the blue channel on my TV went out. Unfortunately, this means that I won't have the color blue when I watch the rest of the season. I mean, that's okay, though? There's no blue in Deadwood anyway.

Our friend Jay came to visit last week. That's always a good time. On Saturday, we had a sort of cereal party. I finally put that fireplace DVD my mom got me a long time ago to good use.

Also, David over at 4thletter said some nice things about Tikboom and muses about digital comics. That's exciting.

when i see you kitten as a cat [11 Mar 2009|06:44pm]
Another Tikboom part is up at Top Shelf. It's pretty ridiculous now. I'm okay with that. Cryptic Children's Fable.

On a more embarrassing note: Last night I stabbed myself in the butt cheek with a ruler that wedged itself in my futon cushion. Blood and everything. I was like, "Whaat," and the ruler was like, "Stab," and I was all like, "Whaaaaaat did I just do?"

I mean, just kidding about the ruler. I was actually wrestling a swordfish.

Also, thanks to my new friend Eleni: pink dolphin, hangin':

The champagne of champagne analogies [25 Feb 2009|11:08pm]

Sweet Bison! Tikboom can now be read on the Top Shelf 2.0 website! This is nice! I like this.

Also, hey, does anyone want to buy a nice, decently fast, slightly-above-mid-range desktop computer w/ monitor for cheap? I'm selling it all for $200 (not including shipping). Here is what it has:

Intel Celeron D 3.33 GhZ
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
100 GB 7200 RPM HD
19" flat Screen Monitor
HP Mouse and Microsoft Keyboard (USB)
Windows Vista Home
Lots of pre-installed software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Games, etc.)

This thing is actually pretty good. The RAM and HD were upgraded from the original. It was only used for about two months. The only reason I got a new one is because I'm greedy and wanted something unnecessarily fast instead of reasonably fast. If you want it, send me a message here or e-mail me and we'll work it out.

tethered to the logic of homosapien [14 Feb 2009|09:28pm]

Also, I mocked up this children's rain gear for a certain company, but they never got back to me, so I guess they won't use them.

Damn! If I were a 5 year old girl (which I basically am), I would wear this stuff so hard.

I've been sneezing all night. I am not down with the sickness. I was supposed to have a Portland adventure, but was thwarted. If you can imagine a room where the walls and furniture are gingerly sprinkled with sinus fluids, you might know what it's like to sit next to me at this very moment.

Here are some more painty things:

Also, this one time I watched Mona Lisa Smile.

Live every day like it's shark week.

Boy, don't front, I know just what you are. [02 Feb 2009|04:15am]
[ music | The Pica Beats - Poor Old Ra ]

My mom sent me a bunch of wedding photos and I spent the last week making them look colorful and pretty. I'm done now, though, and I'll be getting back to Tikboom.

I actually have a bunch of pages drawn that I haven't shown anyone. And I ain't gonna show 'em! Yet. It's not that I don't love you. I do. It's because you love me and I love you. We all love each other. You'll understand soon. I promise.

I've also been doing some painting practice. It's hard, man! Painting on canvas is all different and stuff! It's bumpy.

because you are driven [30 Jan 2009|08:11pm]

Anyone been listening to any good albums? This month I've spent most of my time listening to:

Joel Plaskett - Ashtray Rock: I like all of this album. That Face of the Earth song is a little cheesy at the chorus, but I like it otherwise.

AC Newman - Get Guilty: Actually, I only really listen to "The Heartbreak Rides" a lot and I've only listened through the rest of the album a few times. I don't think it's as good as his last one, but I'll give it a few more tries.

Crystal Stilts - Alight of Night: This is mostly because of Lindsey. The dude sounds like he just swallowed a bunch of Quaaludes and went into a recording booth - which sort of works, in a way.

Miles Davis - George Gershwin's Porgy and Bess: I'd never even heard of Gershwin before last month, but he's apparently the OG.

Otherwise, it's old standbys. Springsteen and Beatles and Bowie and Talking Heads. Two albums that I gave a lot of chances to but ended up not liking are that new Wilco album and that Kanye West album.

I'll miss you when you're gone, so just get out [08 Jan 2009|01:32am]

2008 was an odd year. I learned that you really can't expect some people to be understanding. I also learned that some people understand more than you expect.

it belongs to everyone now [02 Jan 2009|08:52pm]
Like a little moses baby, I landed on the Churchland family doorstep at the beginning of christmas week and they coddled me accordingly. I have some serious thanking to do. Oh yeah, what:

Marian Churchland is just like that first day of snow, but all the time. She is like beach front AND mountain top property. She makes delicious lemon squares at the drop of a hat. She also made those plushies for me. She is Simply The Best.

Also, thanks Claire for the Dragon Ball book and candy cane and colored pencils and for being Claire. Also, also, Thanks Carolyn for pink underwear. Also, also, also, thank you to Jay for the box of ramen and impromptu snowball fight camaraderie. Also, also, also, also, Thank you Jeni Yang for Delicious Treats that I've already almost finished (because they're so delicious) and for being adorable.

Also, bye 2008?

thanks to jameson and buddha [19 Dec 2008|02:46am]

Also, Kitten w/ frog hat. I heard it on facebook somewhere and had to draw it.

I read everyone's facebook pages. I'm fascinated by all of your facebook lives. I admit it. I am a creepy creep. It's also hard for me to pass up drawing kittens.

And,

One more: It's been snowing. I'm sorry that you people on the east coast are bored of snow, but we are pretty excited about it. There have been people sledding down the hilly street directly outside my window all night. Our snow will only last long enough for us to enjoy it. HA. <3

Recession Babies [15 Dec 2008|06:29pm]

So, I'm still poor. I was sort of not poor for a second, but then I was again. Now I am seriously worried about it all. For a while I was not entirely convinced that this lack of work was created by a recession, but I haven't had this much trouble in a very, very long time.

So, I'm asking you guys a favor: Please buy something from me! Buy a CD, donate money if you've downloaded one of my albums and liked it, ask me for an art commission. Anything! Do you know anyone who needs a fancy flash website? Pay me to do it! I am good at it! Mention me all over the internet!

You can find contact / paypal info here: floate.com.

Just send me an email or comment here if you would like to make a deal.

This is no joke. I am in danger of starvation, not to mention rent needs to be paid. If you help out, you would be forever marked down in my book of people I should shower with baby tigers and candy. Dull claw, fluffy baby tigers with soft tongues, don't worry.
